We offer direct billing for medical wigs (cranial prostheses) through select commercial insurance plans. Instead of handing you a receipt and sending you off to handle paperwork alone, we take care of the claim process from start to finish,, requesting the needed documents, submitting your claim, monitoring its status, and keeping you updated with clear, consistent communication. Coverage, reimbursement, and final approval depend on your individual insurance plan.

Hair loss that may qualify can include (but isn’t limited to) hair loss from chemotherapy or radiation, alopecia (areata, totalis, universalis), lupus, thyroid disorders, trichotillomania, burn injuries, and other medically documented causes.

Our virtual consultations make the custom wig process private, convenient, and supportive from the comfort of home and for medical wig patients, a consultation is required to ensure the safest, most comfortable fit. During your appointment, we guide you through easy at-home measurements, discuss scalp sensitivity and coverage needs, and map out your ideal look based on your lifestyle and preferences. We also use AI-assisted tools to support customization by translating your measurements and selections into clear build specifications—helping refine cap fit, density, part placement, and overall design with greater consistency and precision. By blending real human care with smart technology, we reduce guesswork and deliver a secure, natural-looking unit that’s tailored to you from start to finish.

1) Book Your Consultation

Complete your Intake form and schedule a private virtual consultation. This appointment is designed to help understand your needs, guide you through available options, and collect the information necessary to begin your custom unit. During this session, we will discuss your hair goals, lifestyle needs, and preferences, and review important details of your order. This includes cap construction options, hair texture, density, length, and overall styling direction.

As part of this consultation, your head measurements will be taken or verified to support accurate sizing and fit. This may include guided measurements completed during the appointment and/or a review of measurements you have already submitted.

This consultation ensures that your custom unit is designed with both comfort and a natural appearance in mind.

You will receive an email confirming your appointment, including information from your intake form and instructions for preparing for your virtual consultation.

2) We Verify and Explain Your Benefits
We contact your insurance provider directly to confirm eligibility, determine coverage for a cranial prosthesis (medical wig), and identify any requirements, limits, or out-of-pocket costs. During your appointment, we will break everything down in plain language, so you know exactly what to expect before you commit.

3) Choose Your Wig and Let Us Handle the Rest
Once benefits are confirmed, you’ll work with a specialist to select the best unit for your needs, fit, comfort, lifestyle, and desired look. We prepare the required paperwork and submit your claim, so the experience stays smooth and simple.

4) Virtual Fitting Appointment (After Medical Wig is Received)

Your Virtual Fitting Appointment is a guided, one-on-one session designed to ensure your cranial prosthesis is properly aligned with your head shape, measurements, and personal preferences.

During this appointment, a CrownFit Medical Wigs specialist will review your submitted measurements, 3D head scan (if applicable), and overall fit needs. We will assess cap sizing, hairline placement, density, and style preferences to help finalize your custom unit.

This session also allows us to visually confirm proportions, address any concerns, and make professional recommendations to ensure comfort, security, and a natural appearance.

Please note that this is a fitting and consultation session. Final sizing is determined by combining your submitted measurements, visual references, and professional verification.
